Update to COVID Notification and Contact Tracing Procedures

HCPSS staff should be aware of a new procedure regarding positive COVID-19 notification and contact tracing, effective immediately. 

In an effort to increase efficiency and ease the burden on school nurses, health assistants and other school staff who had been overwhelmed with the tasks of managing contact tracing for students and staff, HCPSS has contracted with Ameridial to take over that responsibility.

Reporting a Positive COVID-19 Test Result

Staff who test positive for COVID-19 should call Ameridial toll-free at 888-984-3953. An Ameridial contact tracer then will begin the investigation of the contagious period. 

In addition to asking basic demographic questions, the contact tracer will investigate close contacts. Please be prepared to share with the contact tracer:

COVID-19 positive cases will need to isolate for at least 10 days from the test date or onset of symptoms AND be fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication AND have a consistent improvement of symptoms, prior to returning to the workplace. In addition to contacting Ameridial, staff should notify their supervisor that they will be out on leave for their quarantine period, and complete any necessary paperwork in Workday.

We recognize that testing positive for COVID-19 may cause you stress and concern. We encourage you to contact Ameridial as soon as possible after your diagnosis to initiate contact tracing and ensure the health and safety of those who may have been around you.

Please note that Ameridial is available to take calls from 7 a.m.-10 p.m., seven days per week. Calls received outside of those times will be directed to a voicemail. 

Receiving a Close Contact Phone Call

If you are identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you will receive a phone call and follow up email from Ameridial. Staff who do not answer the call will be left a voicemail with a return call number. Please do not return the call to your school or office. We ask that you return the call to Ameridial at 888-984-3953, which will provide you with necessary information.

This is the same process for parents/guardians if a student is identified as a close contact.
