- Eric Jayne, 5th grade teacher at Pointers Run Elementary School, co-authored a book, “Our Class Pet is a Living Fossil,” about his experience raising horseshoe crabs with his students.
- Heather Green, Media Specialist at Elkridge Elementary School, is one of the finalists for Maryland School Librarian of the Year, which will be awarded by the Maryland Association of School Librarians in October.
HoCo Home Share
Are you an HCPSS staff member who owns and lives in a residential property in Howard County and is interested in earning rental income? Or, are you an HCPSS staff member who lives or works in Howard County, earns equal to or less than $82,310, and is interested in finding affordable housing? The HoCo Home Share program may be of interest to you.
HoCo Home Share is a free Howard County program that matches homeowners who have a room to spare with local residents seeking housing. Program staff use a smart, automated platform to identify strong potential matches based on personal profiles and preferences, then guide both parties through introductions, development of a home-sharing agreement, and the leasing process.
Free Weekly Yoga
The free weekly virtual yoga sessions offered on Wednesdays by Bluebird Yoga and Wellness will resume this Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. The one-hour “Yoga Flow and Restore” class is designed for all levels.
Staff can access the weekly livestreaming yoga class each week on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., using this Zoom link (Meeting ID: 865 9872 9492 and Passcode: 590493). If you can't join live, recordings will be posted on Thursdays. Please use the case-sensitive password: BlueBirdforHCPSS.
