Retirement Pensions
Did you know that most positions at HCPSS are eligible for a pension? HCPSS partners with the Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA) to provide eligible staff with a pension upon retirement. Employees can determine their eligibility by going to Workday > View Profile > Job > Organizations > Search for “Maryland Retirement Plan” under Organization Type and it will show Employee Pension, Teacher Pension or Not Eligible.
A pension provides specific, predetermined monthly retirement benefits at the time of retirement. Eligible staff automatically contribute 7% of their annual salary through payroll deductions, and these contributions are invested to help their account grow. Eligible staff can create an MSRA account to find out when they can retire, generate estimates of their future monthly benefit, view and update beneficiaries, and more.
A Study of School Cell Phone Policies
School-based staff are invited to participate in a national study by Dr. Angela Duckworth on the effect of school cell phone policies on student learning and school culture. Those who complete the five-minute confidential study will be entered to win one of ten $500 gift cards. Staff can view the data already collected from HCPSS educators.
